Rain and snowfall likely in several provinces as Cyclone Arnab approaches Nepal

Kathmandu, October 29, 2026 — Several parts of Nepal are likely to experience rain and snowfall as westerly winds and Cyclone Arnab over the Bay of Bengal influence the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

Light to moderate rain and snowfall are possible at a few places in the mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, as well as at a few locations in the remaining mountainous regions of the country.

The MFD has also forecast light to moderate rainfall at a few places in the hilly and Tarai regions of Madhesh, Koshi and Bagmati provinces. One or two places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces may also receive rainfall.

Generally cloudy conditions are expected in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, along with the mountainous regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces. The remaining areas are likely to see partly cloudy skies.

According to the MFD’s meteorological analysis, westerly winds are currently having a partial influence over Nepal. Cyclone Arnab, which has developed over the Bay of Bengal, is also expected to begin affecting the country from today.
