Kathmandu, October 25, 2026 — Meteorologist Binod Pokharel has warned of heavy rainfall and possible snowfall in parts of Nepal from Thursday, with the weather system expected to affect the country for three to four days.
The forecast is based on a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal and an active western disturbance. The system is expected to move through India’s Andhra Pradesh state before reaching Nepal around October 27 or 28.
Cloud cover could begin as early as Tuesday, while rainfall is likely to start on Thursday night, according to the forecast.
Between October 29 and November 1, some areas of Bagmati Province could receive more than 150 millimetres of rainfall. Significant precipitation is also expected in selected areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
Authorities have identified 29 districts, mainly in Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati and Koshi provinces, as being at high risk because of the possibility of prolonged or intense rainfall.
