Cloudy weather expected in Himalayan regions of three provinces

Kathmandu, October 17, 2026 — The Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces are expected to experience generally cloudy weather today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

Other Himalayan regions across the country are likely to see partly cloudy conditions. The hilly regions nationwide will also remain partly cloudy, along with the Terai areas of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Meanwhile, the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to remain mainly clear.

The department said light rain and snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, are possible at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Himalayan regions.

Tonight, the Himalayan regions are expected to remain partly cloudy. The hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will also see partial cloud cover, while other hilly regions are likely to remain mainly clear.

Fog is likely in some parts of the Terai during the morning.

The department also forecast the possibility of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces tonight.
