Dhading, September 25, 2026 — A massive landslide has completely blocked the Prithvi Highway at Bange in Dhading, bringing traffic in both directions to a halt and leaving hundreds of passengers stranded along the route.
The landslide, which came down from the upper section of the road along with mud and debris, has stopped vehicular movement on the highway.
Bange is among several sections of the Prithvi Highway in Dhading that have been affected by flooding and landslides in recent weeks. Earlier, flooding in the Trishuli River caused severe erosion and damage to sections of the highway, leaving the road vulnerable to further disruption.
Authorities have attributed the latest landslide to prolonged rainfall that has weakened the ground, combined with the steep terrain of the area. Continued rainfall has also made it difficult to clear landslide debris at several locations along the highway.
The disruption has caused long queues of vehicles on the highway, a major road link connecting Kathmandu with other parts of the country. Police have urged travelers to check the latest road conditions with traffic authorities before starting their journey and to use alternative routes where possible.
