RSP lawmaker Khagendra Sunar misses parliamentary subcommittee meeting amid party inquiry

Kathmandu, October 29, 2026 — Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Khagendra Sunar was absent from a parliamentary subcommittee meeting on Thursday after his party barred him from attending public and formal events while an internal investigation into him is underway.

The party imposed the restriction after an audio recording allegedly containing offensive language and threats directed at a woman became public. The RSP is investigating the matter and has barred Sunar from participating in public events or holding public-facing roles until the inquiry is completed.

The subcommittee’s second meeting on the procurement of uniforms for election police, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force Nepal was held at Singha Durbar on Thursday morning. Members discussed the committee’s working procedures.

The House of Representatives’ Public Accounts Committee formed the subcommittee on Asoj 16, 2083, to examine the procurement of election police uniforms. The nine-member panel, led by RSP lawmaker Manish Jha, held its first meeting on Asoj 21, 2083, when members conducted preliminary discussions.

The subcommittee includes lawmakers Ain Mahar, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali, Aaren Rai, Khagendra Sunar, Khushbu Oli, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Ganesh Dhimal and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.

The panel has been given two months to complete its work. It has prepared procedures to examine complaints received within the deadline and information obtained from Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force Nepal before submitting its report. According to the subcommittee secretariat’s work plan, the initial collection and review of documents is scheduled to conclude by Kartik 30.
