Lalitpur, September 28, 2026 — A two-and-a-half-storey house collapsed in Dhapakhel of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-24 on Monday after a landslide occurred below the house as the ground became waterlogged following continuous rainfall.
According to Superintendent of Police Gautam Mishra of the District Police Range Lalitpur, the house belonging to Sovit Kumar Thapa collapsed after the saturated ground gave way and a landslide occurred beneath the structure.
Mishra said the family living in the house had been evacuated a day earlier after authorities assessed the property as being at risk, preventing any human casualties.
The house collapsed after continuous rainfall since September 25 weakened and saturated the ground. The rain had stopped from Sunday evening.
