Udayapur, October 26, 2026 — Fifteen people were injured when a Bolero jeep went about 10 metres off the Siddhicharan Highway at Maruwa in Katari Municipality-4, Udayapur, after its brakes reportedly failed, police said.
The vehicle, registered as Pra 3-01-023 Cha 6506, was travelling along the highway when the accident occurred. Police said brake failure caused the jeep to leave the road and fall approximately 10 metres.
Those injured include driver Nirpa Bahadur Khadka, 29, of Katari Municipality-11; Menuka Magar (Bhujel), 37; Rehan Bhujel, 14; Prinshika Bhujel, 7; Tenju Lama, 16; Ram Bahadur Magar, 71; Lisana Magar, 35; Goma Shrestha, 60; Ambika Dahal, 39; Dikshit Dahal, 10; Nirmala Raut, 21; Dil Kumari Hayu, 26; her 22-month-old son, Diyansh Hayu; Kabita Regmi, 35; and Pradip Poudel, 10.
All the injured are receiving treatment at Katari Hospital. Ram Bahadur Magar has been referred to Biratnagar for further treatment, according to police.
Police said further investigation into the accident is underway.
