Ten foreign nationals investigated over alleged visa violations at health camp in Morang

Morang, October 29, 2026 — Ten foreign nationals have been referred to Nepal’s Department of Immigration for further action after allegedly participating in a health camp in Morang while holding tourist visas, without the required authorization.

The camp was organized in Bargachhi, Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-7, by an organization named Mercy Development, which has been accused of engaging in Christian religious outreach activities. The foreign nationals included medical professionals who reportedly took part in providing health services.

According to the information provided, the District Committee for Monitoring Foreign Nationals decided to forward the visitors’ passports to the Department of Immigration for necessary action because they had participated in the camp without obtaining the required permission.

The four-day health camp began on October 25, with 10 foreign nationals involved in providing services. Pastor Pavel Dangol was responsible for preparing the camp, according to the account.

The site had reportedly been intended for the construction of a local hospital. A local grocery business owner, Nawaraj Shrestha, had constructed six buildings of different sizes on three kattha of land for the proposed hospital. The buildings are now being used for religious activities and other programmes, according to the information provided.

Pastor Bangdel had previously conducted Christian religious classes at the site. Two pastors and several tailoring instructors were reportedly staying there at the time of the account.
