Kathmandu, October 14, 2026 — The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has barred lawmaker and central committee member Khagendra Sunar from carrying out his party and public representative responsibilities while its disciplinary commission investigates allegations of abuse, threats, blackmail and questionable financial transactions.
The decision came after audio clips and details of alleged financial dealings involving Sunar circulated publicly. The party announced the restriction on Tuesday, describing the allegations as serious. Sunar has rejected the claims that he is the person heard in the recordings, and the allegations have not been established as fact.
The statement was issued by party General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya following discussions among senior leaders led by party chair Rabi Lamichhane. The party said allegations of this nature against any member or elected representative required serious consideration.
According to the statement, allegations involving conduct that disrespects women, inappropriate pressure, threats and suspicious financial transactions were matters of significant concern. The party reaffirmed its stated policy of zero tolerance for harassment of women, misuse of public office and criminal conduct, directing its central disciplinary commission to begin an immediate inquiry.
Until the investigation is completed, Sunar has been instructed to stay away from official functions and events in his capacity as a public representative. The party said the measure was intended to protect the inquiry and ensure that public responsibilities were exercised according to expected standards.
