Gen Z activist Raksha Bam criticises RSP chief Ravi Lamichhane over journalists’ arrests

Kathmandu, October 31, 2026 — Gen Z activist Raksha Bam has criticised the arrests of journalists and drawn the attention of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Ravi Lamichhane to the issue.

In a Facebook post, Bam questioned the party’s claims of good governance, saying the government led by the RSP was beginning to show signs of the Panchayat-era system.

“Ravi Lamichhane ji, your party might as well stop raising the slogan of good governance now. The government led by your party is giving off a Panchayat-era smell,” she wrote.

Bam also recalled an earlier incident in which vehicles were reportedly positioned outside a media house. She questioned the treatment of media organisations and journalists, writing: “At times, you send your own party cadres to block the area outside media houses with vehicles, and at other times, you enter media houses themselves to intimidate journalists? Wow, your good governance!”
