Kathmandu, October 29, 2026 — The faction of Nepali Congress former president Sher Bahadur Deuba has scheduled its Kathmandu district convention for December 7 as part of its preparations for a parallel general convention.
The convention will be held at the National Assembly Hall in Exhibition Road on Saturday and will be inaugurated by Deuba, party leader Dinesh Bikram Shah said.
District coordinator Jay Krishna Maharjan has formed several subcommittees to organize the event.
Maharjan has appointed Shambhu Prasad Adhikari as publicity coordinator, Tebendra Ratna Shakya to oversee the stage and convention management, and Dinesh Bikram Shah to lead youth mobilization.
Nepali Congress’ Sher Bahadur Deuba faction rejected the January Special General Convention leadership led by Gagan Thapa, opposing its decisions and preparing a separate 15th General Convention amid Supreme Court proceedings.
