Taplejung food company sells sugar worth Rs 2.73 million in two weeks

Taplejung, October 27, 2026 — The Food Management and Trading Company Limited’s branch in Taplejung sold 24,867 kilograms of sugar worth Rs 2.73 million between September 30 and October 16, attracting consumers with prices below those in the local market.

Branch chief Prakash Timsina said the company sold sugar at Rs 110 per kilogram. Sugar prices in the local market range from Rs 125 to Rs 140 per kilogram.

The sales mark the first time the branch has sold sugar in its 45-year history.

The branch also began selling lentils on October 11. Information officer Jalandhar Prasad Yadav said the office sold 2,163 kilograms of lentils by October 16, generating Rs 313,505 in revenue.

The company plans to add edible oil to its product range in the near future.

Meanwhile, the branch continued to record sales of staple food products. During the first three months of the current fiscal year, it sold rice worth Rs 7.25 million. Sales included 57,250 kilograms of steam jeera masino rice and 24,700 kilograms of sona mansuli rice.
