Dhanusha, October 29, 2026 — Police in Dhanusha have arrested five people who had been absconding after courts sentenced them to imprisonment and fines in various criminal cases.
According to the District Police Office, Dhanusha, police teams from the district office and its subordinate units arrested the five on Wednesday following searches and necessary coordination. The individuals had been convicted in cases involving drug offences, a fatal road accident and banking offences, police said.
The arrested individuals were presented to the Dhanusha District Court for further proceedings to enforce the court verdicts, according to police.
Police said two of the convicts had each been sentenced to two months in prison and fined Rs 2,000 in drug-related cases. Another person had received the same sentence in a case involving a fatal road accident. A fourth convict had also been sentenced to two months in prison and fined Rs 2,000, while the individual convicted in a banking offence had been sentenced to one month in prison and fined Rs 800,000.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Khanal, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Dhanusha, said the wanted individuals had been arrested and handed over to the court for enforcement of their sentences.
