Gulmi, October 27, 2026 — Six people died and three others were injured after a Scorpio SUV plunged about 250 metres off the Kaligandaki Corridor road at Daboukhani in Kali Gandaki Rural Municipality-2, Gulmi, on Monday afternoon, police said.
The vehicle, registered as Ba 0220, was travelling from Chirkot in Syangja towards Rakshe in Gulmi when it crashed at around 4 pm.
According to police, five people died at the scene, while a sixth victim, identified as Nita Bagale, died during treatment at Kaligandaki Community Hospital in Mirmi, Syangja.
The deceased include the driver, 67-year-old Dilip Kumar Bagale of Waling Municipality-2 in Syangja; Shiva Parajuli of Waling-10; and Loknath Pandey, Sita Pandey and Kulananda Pandey of Sirkot in Kali Gandaki Rural Municipality-1, Gulmi. Police said the identity of one person who died at the scene had yet to be confirmed.
Three injured people were taken for treatment at different hospitals. Chhabilal Pandey was reported to be in critical condition, while Gomata Pandey and Balkrishna Subedi were in moderate condition, according to police.
Police teams from Purtighat Police Post, Ridi Area Police Office and the District Police Office in Gulmi were deployed for rescue after receiving information about the crash.
A 56-year-old woman went missing after being swept away by the Chhaldipanaha stream while fishing with her husband in Resunga Municipality-14, Gulmi.
