Kathmandu, October 25, 2026 — The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) earned more than Rs 5.92 billion from electricity exports to India between mid-September and mid-October, despite disruptions to hydropower production caused by the August 26 flood disaster.
The disaster briefly interrupted power exports, but electricity supplies to India increased significantly during the following month, according to NEA Executive Director Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha. He said the value of electricity transactions rose between mid-September and mid-October despite the earlier disruptions.
