Gulmi, September 14, 2026 — A 29-year-old woman who went missing after being swept away by the Nisti River in Gulmi has been found dead.
Kalpana Pun, a resident of Indregauda in Musikot Municipality, was on her way to her maternal home in Hul, Isma Rural Municipality-4, when she was swept away while crossing the river along the border between Musikot Municipality and Isma Rural Municipality.
Police were informed of the incident on Sunday evening and launched a search operation in coordination with local residents. Pun was later found dead during the search, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Bir Bishwakarma, information officer at the District Police Office, Gulmi.
Police teams from Isma Police Post and Paundi Amarai were mobilized after receiving information that Pun had been swept away while attempting to cross the river.
Her body has been sent to Gulmi Hospital for postmortem examination.
