Gulmi, October 1, 2026 — The Kaligandaki Corridor has reopened for traffic after continuous rainfall triggered landslides and blocked the road at several locations along the Harmichaur–Arbeni–Purtighat section.
According to Birendrabir Bishwakarma, information officer at the District Police Office, Gulmi, the road was reopened on Wednesday evening after bulldozers and excavators cleared accumulated landslide debris. The clearance operation was carried out in coordination with Kaligandaki Rural Municipality and the Road Division Office, Palpa.
Mud, sludge and large boulders had accumulated at multiple points along the corridor, including the stretch from Rudrabeni in Satyawati Rural Municipality to Harmichaur, Arbeni and Purtighat.
The obstruction had caused difficulties for travellers heading from the area toward Tamghas, Baglung, Palpa, Butwal and Pokhara.
With the road reopened, public transport and other vehicles that had been halted during the obstruction have resumed their journeys toward their respective destinations.
