Myagdi, November 3, 2026 — Mangala Rural Municipality in Myagdi district will implement a project this fiscal year to promote income generation and employment through commercial beekeeping.
The project proposal submitted by the rural municipality has been approved under the Gandaki Province government’s Chief Minister Innovation Partnership Programme.
Chief Administrative Officer Amrit Dahal said the Rs 10 million project would be funded through a cost-sharing arrangement, with 70 percent contributed by the provincial government and the remaining 30 percent by the rural municipality.
“The project is being launched to create employment and improve farmers’ income through commercial beekeeping,” Dahal said. He added that farmers would receive support in technology, knowledge and skills for beekeeping.
Under the arrangement, the Gandaki provincial government will provide Rs 7 million, while Mangala Rural Municipality will contribute Rs 3 million. The local government said implementation would begin after the agreement and the project would be completed within the current fiscal year.
Traditional beekeeping is practised in Kuhun, Purnagaun, Baranja, Arman and Babiyachaur, which are located in the mid-hill region of the rural municipality.
