Myagdi, October 18, 2026 — The Dana-Khurkot 220 kV transmission line, part of the Kaligandaki Corridor, has been restored after flooding and erosion damaged three towers in the Kaligandaki region.
The damage had disconnected 176 megawatts of electricity generated by seven hydropower plants in Myagdi and Mustang from the national transmission system.
Roshan Khadka, head of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Gandaki Province Grid Branch, said the line was energized at 10:30 pm on Saturday after workers completed the wire installation using a temporary tower to replace the three destroyed structures.
“Through the deployment of technical personnel from the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Kaligandaki hydropower project, we successfully reconnected the electricity to the national system within 20 days following the flood-related damage,” Khadka said.
Sanjay Lohani, assistant director of the authority, said a temporary tower incorporating Canadian technology had been installed to replace the damaged towers and restore the electricity supply.
