Myagdi, October 14, 2026 — Electricity supply has been restored in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi district and Mustang district after heavy rainfall and flooding damaged transmission lines and towers along the Kali Gandaki River.
Flooding following rainfall from September 24 to 27 damaged four towers and snapped wires along the 220 kV Dana-Khurkot transmission line at Pokharebagar in Annapurna Rural Municipality, Dhirchyang and Bhirkate in Dowa, disrupting electricity supply to Mustang and Annapurna Rural Municipality.
Hemraj Chapagain, chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Tatopani Distribution Centre, which serves wards 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Annapurna Rural Municipality and the entire Mustang district, said electricity could not immediately be supplied from the Dana substation because of the transmission line damage. The authority therefore arranged an alternative supply.
“We repaired the 33 kV transmission line from Milan Chowk through Dana to Kobang in Mustang and restored electricity supply because it was not immediately possible to supply power from the Dana substation,” Chapagain said. He added that authority employees, technicians and labourers had been mobilized to complete the work.
Chapagain said electricity supply in Mustang resumed on October 10, while repair work in Myagdi had been completed in almost all areas, except for one or two households. The restoration of electricity has also enabled disrupted communication services to resume.
