Kathmandu, August 27, 2026 — Nepal Police have recovered 162 bodies from eight districts following severe flooding triggered by heavy rains, according to official figures released at 5:00 am on Thursday.
Chitwan recorded the highest number of recovered bodies, with 64, followed by Dhading with 27 and Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Purba) with 26.
Police also recovered 20 bodies in Gorkha, 12 in Nuwakot, nine in Tanahun, two in Rasuwa and two in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Paschim).
Security agencies have mobilised 3,318 police personnel for continued search and rescue operations across the affected areas.
Twenty-eight police personnel deployed at various locations, including Timure, Rasuwagadhi and Mailung, remain unaccounted for.
