Chitwan, August 24, 2026 — Three paternal uncles have been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in Rapti Municipality-8, Khurkure of Chitwan.
The accused are related to the girl as thulobuba (paternal uncles). After the incident became public, the three men have gone into hiding.

A police constable has been arrested for allegedly recording and leaking a video of a teenage suspect being interrogated in connection with the rape and murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary in Bara. The sensitive footage, reportedly recorded inside an interrogation room, was circulated widely on social media. Police subsequently arrested constable Kumar and took him into custody.

Police have arrested one more person on charges of involvement in the rape and murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary in Simara, Bara. The arrested individual is Pradeep Khadka, a resident of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City. He is a student. Garima was found dead on August 18 in Ward No. 1 of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City. She had been missing from home for three days before her body was recovered.

Former Nepali Congress president and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba appeared at the party’s Chundevi contact office on Sunday, where he was seated at a desk carrying a nameplate identifying him as “President Sher Bahadur Deuba,” despite no longer officially holding the position. Preliminary police investigation has indicated that a two-year-old girl found dead in Saptari was killed by her stepmother. Khushi Khatun, the two-year-old daughter of Mohammad Irfan of Shambhunath Municipality-3, went missing from home on Sunday and was found dead about two hours later in a thicket behind the house. Police have sent the body for postmortem to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj.

A two-year-old girl, the daughter of Mohammad Irfa of Traffic Chok in Shambhunath Municipality-3, has been found dead. She had been missing since this morning. Family members immediately approached the police after learning of her disappearance. According to the family, the child was playing at home in the morning. After she went missing, a search was launched and her body was discovered in a thicket about 60 metres behind the house.
