Three paternal uncles have been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in Rapti Municipality-8, Khurkure of Chitwan. The accused are related to the girl as thulobuba (paternal uncles). After the incident became public, the three men have gone into hiding.

Former Nepali Congress president and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba appeared at the party’s Chundevi contact office on Sunday, where he was seated at a desk carrying a nameplate identifying him as “President Sher Bahadur Deuba,” despite no longer officially holding the position. Deuba attended a tea reception organized by the Nepali Congress-affiliated Indigenous Nationalities Federation at the office. It was his second visit to the Chundevi office since returning to Nepal following about five months of medical treatment in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has acknowledged that the communist movement lost public trust and political strength after the party became increasingly focused on short-term political calculations rather than its long-term ideological goals. Speaking at an interaction programme in Kathmandu, Prachanda reflected on the decline of the communist movement from a dominant political force to a more defensive position. He attributed part of the decline to the party’s growing distance from its traditional supporters and its failure to maintain a clear strategic direction.
