Lalitpur, September 4, 2026 — CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has called for emergency relief to be delivered directly to families affected by the Rasuwa floods, arguing that depositing aid into government accounts can delay its distribution because of bureaucratic procedures.
Speaking at a relief handover programme in Chyasal, Oli said assistance intended for disaster victims should reach affected households without unnecessary administrative delays. He also stressed that relief distribution and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure should move forward simultaneously.
Oli announced more than Rs 12 million in relief support from his party for families affected by the disaster. He emphasized the need to prioritize immediate assistance while also beginning the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by the floods.
During the programme, Oli also raised concerns over the reported mobilisation of a group known as the “Green Army,” whose members have reportedly been seen wearing fatigue-style uniforms. He questioned the group’s legal status, source of funding and ability to mobilize rapidly, and called on the ministries responsible for security to clarify its background and activities.
Oli also warned against involving the country’s non-partisan military institution in political disputes. He said questions surrounding groups operating outside established security structures should be addressed through the appropriate state authorities.
