Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Saptari municipal chair arrested in drug case

Siraha, October 14, 2026 — Police have arrested Sabir Hussain, chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Surunga Municipality, Saptari, in connection with a narcotics case.

A team from the Area Police Office in Lahan arrested Hussain from the party office in Kadamaha Bazaar, Ward 4 of Surunga Municipality.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Bahadur Pal, information officer and spokesperson for the Siraha District Police Office, confirmed Hussain’s arrest, saying he had been absconding in a drug-related case.

According to police, 130 kilograms of marijuana were recovered from a car following a road accident on December 14, 2024, at Zero Mile in Ward 10 of Dhangadhimai Municipality along the East-West Highway.

Police said a truck bearing registration number Na. 3 Kha 7591, travelling from east to west, collided with a car bearing registration number Ba. 8 Cha 9963 that was crossing the highway from the north.

A search of the car after the accident led to the discovery of marijuana packed in five bundles, police said.

Following the incident, police took the car, the truck and the truck driver into custody, while the car driver fled. Police said Hussain was arrested in connection with the same narcotics case.
