Nawalpur, October 3, 2026 — Five of the six people killed in a bus crash at Daunne along the East-West Highway in Nawalparasi East on Friday morning have been identified.
The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Nirjung Khatri of Bheriganga Municipality–3, Jajarkot; 32-year-old Dipendra KC of Kohalpur Municipality–3, Banke; 65-year-old Narendraraj Giri of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality, Bajura; 55-year-old Yakendra Raj Regmi of Kohalpur Municipality–10, Banke; and 22-year-old Krish Kanoujia of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City–7.
Police said the identity of the sixth victim, a man, has yet to be established.
The bus, bearing registration number Province 3-01-006 Kha 1553, was traveling to Kathmandu from Nepalgunj when it crashed at S Mod in Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality–2 after the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle then overturned into a drain.
According to police, 18 people, including the driver, were on board. Six people died, 10 were injured and two escaped unhurt.
