Kathmandu, September 5, 2026 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined by 14.54 points, or 0.57 percent, over the past week, despite a recovery in hydropower stocks following the previous week’s sharp losses linked to the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli floods.
The secondary market opened the week at 2,557.31 points and closed at 2,542.77 points. During the four-day trading period, the benchmark index reached a high of 2,556.96 points and a low of 2,501.49 points, resulting in a weekly volatility range of 55.47 points.
The market declined on only one trading day during the week. The NEPSE index fell by 43.89 points on Monday before recovering during the following sessions. The largest daily gain was recorded on Wednesday, when the index rose 15.44 points.
The market traded for only four days after the government declared a public holiday on Friday to mark Shree Krishna Janmashtami.
Among the sectoral indices, Manufacturing and Processing recorded the largest gain, rising 67.14 points, or 0.64 percent. Trading, Banking and Investment were also among the gaining sectors.
