Chitwan, October 16, 2026 — Chitwan National Park has introduced an electronic ticketing system that allows visitors to purchase entry tickets online, enabling them to complete the ticketing process from home before visiting the park.
The service has initially been launched in the Sauraha area. The park plans to expand online ticketing to other entry points based on the results of the initial trial. Previously, visitors and tourism entrepreneurs had to be physically present and pay in cash to obtain tickets. The new system is expected to reduce waiting times and simplify the process.
The system was inaugurated on Thursday by Hari Dhakal, a member of parliament representing Chitwan Constituency No. 1 and chairperson of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, and Dil Bahadur Purja Pun, the park’s senior conservation officer.
Pun said the park administration had been working for a long time to introduce electronic ticketing. The need for the system in Chitwan became more apparent after Shivapuri National Park introduced a similar service.
He said Sauraha was selected for the initial rollout because the area accounts for 70 to 75 percent of Chitwan National Park’s revenue and receives a similar proportion of visitors entering the park. He added that tutorials explaining how to use the system would be published on the park’s Facebook page and website.
