Kathmandu, Nepal, August 23, 2026 — Former India Test wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat has joined Kathmandu Gorkhas for the third edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), becoming the franchise’s first announced overseas player for the upcoming season.
Kathmandu Gorkhas announced the signing of the 32-year-old Bharat through its social media platforms. The experienced wicketkeeper-batter brings international and domestic cricket experience to the Kathmandu-based franchise.
Bharat has represented India in Test cricket and announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year. Known primarily for his wicketkeeping, he has also contributed with the bat, particularly in the middle order.
The Indian cricketer has played 91 T20 matches and scored more than 1,800 runs. He has spent much of his career in India’s domestic cricket system and has also represented multiple franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Bharat was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad that won the IPL title in 2024. His addition gives Kathmandu Gorkhas another experienced wicketkeeping option while strengthening the team’s batting depth ahead of the third NPL season.
