Chitwan, October 6, 2026 — A delegation of businesspeople from Chitwan met Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane on Monday, urging immediate initiatives to control the Narayani River and protect the Narayangadh market from flood and erosion risks.
The delegation from the Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said river erosion and flooding had increased risks to Narayangadh market and surrounding areas.
Chamber President Chiranjivi Subedi said the delegation asked Lamichhane to take immediate steps for the long-term management of the Narayani River, including the construction and strengthening of embankments.
The delegation met Lamichhane, who is also a member of the House of Representatives from Chitwan Constituency No. 2, to draw his attention to the need for Narayani River control and protection of the Narayangadh market.
Subedi said the delegation, which included Senior Vice President Rajendra Oli and former chamber president and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry central member Suman Shrestha, also called for an immediate technical assessment of the risks posed by the river.
