Rasuwa, September 20, 2026 — Twenty-four bodies recovered from the tunnel of the Trishuli-1 Hydroelectric Project in Haku, Amachodingmo Rural Municipality–1, Rasuwa, have yet to be identified.
The bodies were recovered during search and rescue operations after flash floods triggered by the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers buried people inside the tunnel.
According to the District Police Office, Nuwakot, the 24 bodies were extracted from the tunnel of the 216-megawatt project over two days on September 17 and 18. They were airlifted to Nuwakot on September 19 by a Nepal Army helicopter.
Police said the bodies are currently being kept at the Khambacamp premises of the Central Jail Office in Bidur Municipality–6.
The District Police Office, Nuwakot, has urged families whose relatives have gone missing to visit the site and assist in identifying the bodies. Police said the deceased may include people who lost contact following the flood.
