Pokhara, September 27, 2026 — At least 18 people have died in floods, landslides and related disasters across Gandaki Province following several days of heavy rainfall, with Baglung, Myagdi and Manang among the worst-affected districts.
According to the Gandaki Province Police Office, 10 people have died in Baglung, six in Myagdi and two in Manang. Four people were reported missing and three injured, although authorities were continuing to update the figures as search, rescue and damage-assessment operations continued.
In Baglung, four members of the same family were killed when a landslide buried their house in Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3 at around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday. The deceased were 39-year-old Shyamkumari BK and her sons Manoj, 12, Mukesh, 9, and Nisan, 5. Their 14-year-old daughter Muskan survived because she had gone to her grandparents’ home the previous day.
Another person, 59-year-old Man Bahadur Roka, died after a landslide buried the room where he was sleeping in Dhasmar of Baglung’s Tarakhola Rural Municipality-10.
Flooding also caused extensive damage in Baglung. At least 10 to 12 houses in Jhivakhola Bazaar of Nisikhola Rural Municipality-4 were damaged by flooding. Roads, electricity infrastructure and telecommunications towers were also affected, while authorities continued to collect details of the damage.
