Tanahun, October 15, 2026 — The bridge connecting Ghiring in Tanahun and Dedhgaun in Nawalpur has resumed operation after remaining closed for 18 days following flood damage caused by the Kaligandaki River.
The flood on September 27 washed away the approach roads on both sides of the bridge, disrupting transportation between Ghiring Rural Municipality in Tanahun and Baudikali Rural Municipality in Nawalpur.
A temporary access road on the Nawalpur side was completed last week, while repairs to the approach road on the Tanahun side were finished on Wednesday.
Hom Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of Ghiring Rural Municipality, confirmed that vehicles had resumed crossing the Kaligandaki Bridge after the access roads were restored.
Siddhababa Construction Services carried out the repair work with financial and technical support from the Road Division Office in Tanahun.
