Lift-equipped footbridge in Kusunti Height nears completion, targeted to open around Chhath

Lalitpur, October 25, 2026 — Construction of a lift-equipped pedestrian overpass in the Kusunti Height area of Lalitpur has reached its final stage, with authorities targeting to bring it into operation before or shortly after the Chhath festival. An exact inauguration date has not yet been announced.

The footbridge is being built along the Ring Road in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-13 at an estimated cost of Rs 46.8 million. Construction began in February 2024, with the project initially scheduled for completion within one year under the contract. However, technical problems and complications during the construction process delayed the work beyond the original deadline.

The overpass is equipped with lifts on both sides, which are expected to make crossing the road easier for senior citizens, people with disabilities, patients and children.

The project aims to improve pedestrian access across the busy Ring Road and reduce the risk of road accidents. Its lift facilities have also drawn public attention.

Once completed and opened to the public, the footbridge is expected to provide pedestrians in the area with a more convenient way to cross the road.
