Banke, October 22, 2026 — A fire at the furnace oil storage tank of Ambe Steel in Baksapur, Janaki Rural Municipality-5, Banke, caused estimated damages of Rs 15.6 million on Thursday.
The fire broke out at around 1:30 p.m. and was reportedly triggered by a short circuit.
The affected tank, used to store furnace oil for steel production, has a storage capacity of 200,000 litres.
Following the incident, a police team from the Area Police Office in Khajura Khurd was deployed to the site.
With the assistance of local residents and fire engines, the fire was brought fully under control by 2:30 p.m. Preliminary estimates put the financial loss at Rs 15.6 million.
