Three-year-old girl found dead in vacant house in Bara after three-day

Bara, August 18, 2026 — Three-year-old Garima Chaudhary, who had been missing for three days from Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-1 in Bara, was found dead inside an unoccupied house in Bhakti Tole on Tuesday evening.

Garima, the daughter of Manoj Chaudhary and Manmati Chaudhary, had been missing since around 8:30 am. Sunday. Her family and police had been searching for her after she disappeared from the settlement.

The house where her body was found had reportedly been vacant for about five months and was located roughly 150 metres south of Garima’s home.

According to police, local residents noticed a foul smell coming from the unlocked house on Tuesday. After looking through a window and seeing a body inside, they informed the police.

Police said Garima was found without clothes, while her clothes, including her undergarments, were also recovered from inside the house. Investigators also found injuries on her body.

Based on the circumstances and the injuries, police suspect that the child may have been sexually assaulted before being killed. However, authorities have not confirmed the cause or circumstances of her death, and the allegation remains subject to investigation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Chhetri of the Area Police Office, Simara, said the postmortem examination is expected to provide further information.

Police completed the necessary legal procedures and sent Garima’s body to a hospital for postmortem examination. A trained police dog was also brought from Birgunj to assist investigators in gathering evidence and tracing possible leads.

Bara Police Chief Narendra Kunwar and other police officers reached the scene after the body was discovered. Police Inspector Prakash Thapa has been assigned as the investigating officer.

Police are treating the incident as a suspected murder and are continuing their investigation. Further details about the circumstances of Garima’s death are expected after the postmortem examination and other investigative findings.
