Nepali Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has warned former prime minister and Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba against making statements or taking positions that contradict Nepal’s Constitution. Speaking at the unification meeting of the party’s Bagmati Province Committee on Tuesday, Prachanda criticised Deuba’s recent declaration that he is a Hindu and objected to decisions adopted at a gathering of the faction opposed to the Nepali Congress mainstream. According to party leader Himal Sharma, Prachanda also referred to the five-point decisions adopted by the gathering and warned against actions and statements that could go against the constitutional framework.

A 49-year-old woman who was critically injured when a jeep plunged into a roadside ravine in Bhimphedi, Makwanpur, on Tuesday morning has died during treatment in Kathmandu. Laxmi Badu, who was seriously injured in the accident, died at Shree Birendra Hospital in Chhauni, Kathmandu. Her body has been kept at the hospital, according to police. The accident occurred at around 7 am when a jeep travelling from Kathmandu towards Birgunj lost control and fell approximately 50 to 60 metres into a ravine beside the road. The vehicle was registered as Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has been directed to attend the House of Representatives and answer lawmakers’ questions after repeatedly failing to appear for the monthly question-and-answer session required by parliamentary rules. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal issued the ruling on Monday, saying lawmakers had repeatedly raised concerns over the prime minister’s absence and that the matter had come to his attention. “Members of parliament have been raising this issue for a long time, and it has come to my attention,” Aryal said before directing Shah to attend the House and respond to questions in accordance with the House of Representatives Regulations, 2026.
