Kathmandu, August 18, 2026 — Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth held a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister and Defence Minister Balendra Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Tuesday.
Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava also attended the meeting.
Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday for a four-day official visit to Nepal at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel. His visit is focused on strengthening military relations and cooperation between Nepal and India.
During his visit, President Ram Chandra Paudel conferred the insignia of the Honorary General of the Nepali Army on Seth at a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Monday.
Nepal and India have maintained a longstanding tradition of awarding the honorary rank of general to each other's army chiefs. The practice dates back to 1950 and is regarded as a symbol of the close military ties between the two neighbouring countries.
