Makwanpur, August 18, 2026 — Six people, including Judge Gokarna Dangi of the Birgunj temporary bench of the High Court Janakpur, were injured after a Scorpio vehicle travelling from Kathmandu to Birgunj plunged about 50–60 metres off the road in Makwanpur on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at Jurikhel in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6. The Scorpio, bearing registration number Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183, was travelling towards Birgunj when it fell below the road and crashed.
The injured have been identified as 57-year-old Judge Dangi of Tulsipur-9, Dang; driver Chhunnilal Chaudhary, 32, of Rapti Rural Municipality-8, Dang; Taradatta Badu, 51, of Dasharathchand Municipality-7, Baitadi; Badu's wife, Laxmi Badu, 49; their son Ritendra Badu, 25; and Badu's sister Rita Badu, 31.
According to Makwanpur police, Laxmi Badu is in critical condition, while the other five injured people are in moderate condition.
Following initial treatment at Bhimfedi Hospital, preparations were made to transfer the injured for further medical care. Judge Dangi and three others were airlifted to Kathmandu aboard a Nepal Army helicopter for further treatment.
