Makwanpur, August 18, 2026 — A 49-year-old woman who was critically injured when a jeep plunged into a roadside ravine in Bhimphedi, Makwanpur, on Tuesday morning has died during treatment in Kathmandu.
Laxmi Badu, who was seriously injured in the accident, died at Shree Birendra Hospital in Chhauni, Kathmandu. Her body has been kept at the hospital, according to police.
The accident occurred at around 7 am when a jeep travelling from Kathmandu towards Birgunj lost control and fell approximately 50 to 60 metres into a ravine beside the road. The vehicle was registered as Province 3-01-002 Jha 5183.
A Nepal Army helicopter airlifted four of the injured, including Gokarna Dangi, a judge at the Janakpur High Court's Birgunj bench, to Shree Birendra Hospital for further treatment.
A seven-member team, including traffic police personnel from the Area Police Office in Bhimphedi, reached the accident site after receiving information about the crash and began rescue and response efforts.
