Kathmandu, August 17, 2026 — A verbal dispute broke out in Parliament after Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Indira Rana Magar accused Shram Sanskriti Party Chairman Harka Sampang of operating a “cyber army” that allegedly targeted and harassed her.
Responding to the allegation, Sampang rejected the claim and said he did not have any such group. He said he was an ordinary lawmaker like Rana and that his responsibility in Parliament was to raise issues and concerns brought forward by the public.
Sampang said lawmakers should not become involved in confrontations with members of the public over statements or activities outside Parliament. Instead, he argued, elected representatives should bring public concerns and grievances to the House for discussion.
He also said Rana had directly criticised or targeted him in Parliament for the second time. Sampang subsequently requested that the remarks made against him be removed from the parliamentary record.
The exchange reflects the increasingly sharp political disagreements among lawmakers as members of different parties challenge one another over public statements and conduct outside Parliament.
