Syanja collects over Rs 2.8 million in traffic fines in first three months of fiscal year

Syanja, November 1, 2026 — The District Traffic Police Office in Syanja collected more than Rs 2.8 million in revenue by taking action against vehicles for violating traffic rules during the first three months of the current fiscal year 2083/84.

A total of 3,018 vehicles were penalized between Shrawan and Ashoj, generating Rs 2,804,000 in revenue, according to the office. Jeeps, cars and vans accounted for the largest number of penalties.

Office chief Police Assistant Inspector Narendra Bahadur Shahi said 917 jeeps, cars and vans were penalized during the period, generating Rs 968,000 in revenue.

Similarly, action against 909 motorcycles and scooters generated Rs 849,500. The office collected Rs 313,500 from 382 buses, Rs 295,000 from 335 trucks, Rs 206,000 from 258 other vehicles and Rs 172,000 from 217 tractors.

Shahi said the office has continued public awareness programmes alongside enforcement measures to reduce road accidents.

He said failure to follow traffic rules increases the risk of accidents and urged drivers to control vehicle speed, use helmets and seat belts, and maintain road discipline. He added that regular vehicle checks and action against traffic violators would continue.
