Kanagawa, Japan, September 4, 2026 — Police in Yokohama have arrested a 70-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 19-year-old daughter at their home last month.
Masaaki Shimazaki was arrested Thursday after recovering from a self-inflicted stab wound. Police allege that he repeatedly stabbed his daughter, Mizuki, in the upper body with a knife between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on August 22 at their home in Kanagawa Ward, according to NTV.
The incident came to light after Shimazaki's wife returned home at around 6:10 p.m. and found both her husband and daughter lying separately in the house and covered in blood.
She called emergency services and reportedly told the operator that her daughter and husband had collapsed and were covered in blood.
Emergency responders found Mizuki and Shimazaki in separate rooms. Shimazaki had sustained a stab wound to his abdomen, which police said was self-inflicted.
