Rasuwa, September 4, 2026 — Joint search and rescue teams have rescued two people alive from inside the Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydroelectric Project tunnel in Rasuwa, 10 days after catastrophic flooding inundated the region.
The survivors have been identified as Kabir Maharjan and Sanjay Sah.

The rescue operation gained momentum early Friday morning after security personnel detected human voices coming from inside the tunnel.
A specialized joint team comprising personnel from the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force Nepal then entered the hazardous underground area and successfully reached the two survivors before bringing them out safely.
Search and rescue operations inside the tunnel remain ongoing, as authorities continue efforts to locate other people who may still be trapped.
