Kathmandu, September 9, 2026 — Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has proposed forming an all-party parliamentary special committee to investigate the causes and impact of the devastating Bhote Koshi River flood in Rasuwa, while warning party members against belittling or cyberbullying disaster victims.
Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Lamichhane called for the disaster to be formally declared a national climate-related disaster.
“Let us declare the current flood a climate-related disaster of national importance,” Lamichhane said. “Let us form an all-party parliamentary special committee to examine the causes and damage caused by this disaster and to internationalise the issue.”
Lamichhane said search and rescue operations were still continuing in the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli corridor and expressed hope that people who remain missing could still be found.
“Rescue operations are still ongoing. We have not given up hope for good news,” he said, urging authorities to continue searching as long as there remained a possibility of rescuing missing people.
