PM Shah reviews Bhote Koshi flood response with security chiefs

Kathmandu, September 9, 2026 — Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah has held a high-level meeting with the chiefs of Nepal’s three security agencies to review the government’s response to the devastating Bhote Koshi River flood in Rasuwa on August 26.

Prime Minister Shah is currently meeting Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. The meeting is focused on receiving a detailed briefing on the government’s ongoing response to the disaster.

The discussions include the progress of search and rescue operations, relief distribution and medical care for people affected by the flood.

Following his meeting with Chief of Army Staff Sigdel, Shah is scheduled to meet Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki and Armed Police Force Nepal Inspector General Narayan Datta Paudel later today.

The meetings are expected to assess the security agencies’ ongoing work in flood-affected areas, including search and rescue, relief distribution and emergency response.

The government has continued coordinating security agencies in response to the disaster, with operations focused on locating missing people, assisting affected communities and providing emergency support in areas hit by the flood.

The high-level consultations come as authorities continue efforts to manage the humanitarian impact of the August 26 disaster and strengthen the ongoing rescue, relief and medical response.
