Lalitpur, September 11, 2026 — The CPN-UML task force formed to review the party’s election performance and recommend restructuring measures is scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. today at Chyasal.
The task force was formed after the party’s poor performance in the February 21 elections.
According to a party official, the meeting will discuss two separate reports. One was prepared by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel following consultations with party leaders and cadres across the country, while the other was prepared by task force coordinator and Vice-Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’.
A task force member said Pokharel’s report primarily compiles suggestions received from party leaders and cadres. Thapa’s report, meanwhile, is being viewed by some party leaders as a response to Pokharel’s report or as a charge sheet.
Party leaders have also discussed the possibility of endorsing Pokharel’s report while incorporating Thapa’s report as a note of dissent.
