Lalitpur, October 11, 2026 — Vote counting for the vice president and general secretary positions in the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress is underway at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur, with Dr. Chandra Kanta Bhandari leading the vice president race and Pradeep Paudel ahead in the general secretary contest.
According to election officials, 2,231 votes have been counted out of 7,043 votes cast. Counting for the two positions began on Saturday evening, and the process is continuing.
In the open category for vice president, Bhandari leads with 1,057 votes. E. Madhu Acharya follows with 712 votes, while Surendra Raj Pandey has received 680 votes.
Other candidates in the category include Govinda Bhattarai with 609 votes, Dhanraj Gurung with 406, Deepak Giri with 301, and Prof. Dr. Chandra Mohan Yadav with 193.
In the inclusive category for vice president, Binod Kumar Chaudhary is leading with 615 votes. Jeevan Pariyar has received 578 votes, followed by Sita Gurung with 334, Farmullah Mansoor with 285, and Ranjit Karna with 183.
