Rasuwa, September 5, 2026 — A Chinese national has been rescued alive from inside a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project in Rasuwa by a joint rescue team comprising Nepali Army personnel and foreign rescuers.
The rescued man has been identified as Luhaitao. According to the Nepali Army, he was found about 225 meters inside the tunnel and rescued at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
His health condition is currently being assessed, while search and rescue operations inside the tunnel are continuing.
Security agencies, including the Nepali Army and the Armed Police Force Nepal, have intensified search operations inside tunnels at several hydropower projects affected by the disaster.
On Friday, security personnel rescued two people alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli-3A Hydropower Project. Search operations for others who may still be inside affected tunnels are continuing.
