Bodies of four Bhotekoshi flood victims recovered in India handed over to Nepal

Traffic through the Gaddachauki border crossing in Kanchanpur has been disrupted since Tuesday morning after rising water levels in the Mahakali River led to restrictions on four-wheeled vehicles crossing into India. According to the Area Police Office in Gaddachauki, four-wheeled vehicles traveling between Nepal and India have been stopped from crossing the Sharada Barrage, also known as the Banbasa Bridge, due to the increased river flow. Senior Deputy Inspector of Police Jiban Gurung, chief of the Area Police Office, Gaddachauki, said the Mahakali River was flowing at around 112,000 cusecs.

The central committee meeting of the Shram Sanskriti Party, led by Harka Sampang, is underway at Hotel Gorkha in Dharan, Sunsari. Security personnel have recovered 24 bodies from a single house in Bidur Municipality-10 in Nuwakot, an area severely affected by the devastating Bhote Koshi flood. Nuwakot District Police Office Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi told Ratopati that the bodies were excavated from a house belonging to a person residing in Betrawati during a search operation. The identities of the recovered bodies have not yet been ascertained.
