Kathmandu, August 27, 2026 — The death toll from Wednesday’s devastating floods has risen to 359, with bodies recovered from eight districts as security forces continue search and rescue operations, Nepal Police said.
Nepal Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Abi Narayan Kafle confirmed the revised death toll on Thursday evening.
According to the latest figures, 17 bodies have been recovered in Rasuwa, 28 in Nuwakot, 33 in Dhading, 132 in Chitwan, 30 in Gorkha, 22 in Tanahun, 82 in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) and 15 in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta West).
Search and rescue operations remain underway across the flood-affected districts. Security personnel are also evacuating families from areas considered at risk of further flooding.
Police and other security agencies are coordinating with local authorities and residents to locate people who remain missing and clear roads obstructed by debris and damaged infrastructure.
